It’s been a rough couple of years for teachers. Opportunities to laugh about some of the more ridiculous aspects of education are often few and far between. That’s why I’ve been getting so much joy from @SecCarDontCare, a parody Twitter account based on U.S. Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona’s actual account, @SecCardona. Keep scrolling to see why Secretary Miguel Car-Don’t Care’s account has been giving me life at the end of a very long school year.
First, meet U.S. Secretary of Education, Dr. Miguel Cardona

Dr. Cardona has been serving as the U.S. Secretary of Education under President Joe Biden since March 2021. He began his career as a fourth-grade teacher in Connecticut.
And now, Secretary Miguel Car-don’t Care🤡

While the differences between the two accounts appear pretty obvious, there are still plenty of tweets from people who seem to think tweets from this account are coming from the actual U.S. Secretary of Education. Sigh.
Secretary Miguel Car-don’t Care🤡 has thoughts about student engagement

And the growing teacher/sub shortages…

He reminds teachers to practice self-care

And believes that it’s important to let teachers know how much they’re appreciated

He is a role model for educators

#BuiltDifferent Seriously, I can’t even…😂
Occasionally, he even takes on the real U.S. Secretary of Education

When teachers live in a world where the actual U.S. Secretary of Education is fighting for our right to declare bankruptcy as a way to deal with student debt, we definitely need to enjoy humor where we can find it.
