The COVID-19 pandemic has completely upended life as we know it, causing us to miss out on birthday parties, weddings, and vacations. But one group in particular has been hit especially hard: high school seniors. The class of 2020 is missing out on all kinds of “lasts”, milestones, and traditions. John Krasinski wants to make sure prom isn’t one of them, so he’s taking it online.
Some Good News
During this difficult time, The Office actor has been highlighting positive stories with his weekly online show, Some Good News. One of his segments is entitled “What’d I miss?” He announced on Twitter, “I just can’t take it anymore how much all you guys are missing prom. So let’s do something about it! Let’s have an #SGNprom! Yup, I’ll DJ with some friends live on YouTube.”
Who might these friends be? Well, considering his wife is Emily Blunt and prior SGN guests have included Steve Carrell and the entire cast of Hamilton, we have high hopes. Dare we hope that Ryan Reynolds will show up and ask us to virtually slow dance?
So here’s what’s going down: Tonight, Friday April 17th, at 8:00 PM Eastern, hop on Krasinksi’s YouTube channel (here’s the event link).
Put on your formal best (or your pajamas—you do you) and get ready to shake your tailfeather because (while this online prom is really for bummed out teens stuck at home) you can come, too. And let’s face it, we could all use a little John Krasinski spinning some sweet prom tunes.
