Students Around the World Are Joining Together for a Global Climate Strike, and Their Signs Are Everything

These kids have something to say, and we need to listen.

Global-Climate-Change-Sign

A global climate strike is happening across the world, and students are stepping up to have their voices heard. More than 150 countries are involved in this global climate strike, targeting September 20 and September 27 as days for young people to miss school and protest the climate crisis.

It can take a lot of time, effort, and just overall courage to join a strike—plus some understanding from teachers when kids miss school. So we wanted to take a moment to share some of our favorite global climate strike signs we’re seeing from young people on social media. Here are some of the haghtags being used, in case you or your students want to join:

  • #SchoolStrike4Climate
  • #ClimateStrike
  • #GlobalClimateStrike
  • #StrikeWithUs
  • #Fridays4Future
  • #WeekForFuture

Because we all have a hand in this …

Because even preschoolers are getting involved …

Because no one should live in fear …

Because there’s no room for egos …

Because we love the boldness …

Because this teen has a powerful message …

!IMPORTANT PLEASE READ! Went on #schoolstrike4climate today! This is the banner I took! Thank you for the people who have messaged me saying things like "I'm proud of you" or "wow" or someone said "it's people like you who make a difference" this means so much to me and I really wish I could make a big difference. I do my bit. But it's still not enough. We need big companies and organisations to take responsibility! Give us more chance to use less plastic because for most people its impossible. The idea of this campaign is to make a scene, to get people to notice us. I'm not some hippie vegan forcing this in your face I believe you have the right to do and eat what you like all I'm doing is trying to make people realise that if they wait for other people to sort out this crisis (which will affect all of us) then nothing will ever happen. The banner says "I am the lorax. I speak for the teens, they say you're killing our planet our air should be clean!!" So at least 🥑𝕊𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕖🥑 if I speak for you too. #youthstrike4climate #youthstrikeforclimateworcester #naturenow #schoolstrike4climate #climatestrike #climate #climatestrikeworcester #gretathunberg #protest #march #democracy #voting #youth #noplanetb #veganism #vegan #love @gretathunberg @uklabour @greenpeace @thegreenparty @merryrosehowley

Because you can march at any age …

Because it’s time to start fixing …

Because there’s power in numbers …

Because we all need to remember this …

Because that message is worth repeating in every language …

Because it’s going to take a whole system …

Because kids know we have to do better …

Because it really will take a global effort …

Because inconvenience can lead to change …
