Tips for Using Hispanic Heritage Month Worksheets in the Classroom

Daily Activities

Read the entire nonfiction text on day one, then dive deep into one of the countries from the text for the following days. This will allow students to get an overview and then continue building upon their background knowledge each day.

Group Projects

Have students work in groups to choose one of the countries and use the worksheets to become experts on that country. At the end of the week, have each group present about their country. This provides more ownership for students and brings in more student voice during instruction.

Bulletin Boards

Use the completed worksheets as a basis for studies, and then have students develop posters or other visuals based on what they have learned to create a bulletin board about the countries they’ve studied for Hispanic Heritage Month.
