The Learning Network Education Resources from The New York Times

Great way to teach current events!

Have you checked out The Learning Network from The New York Times? This blog provides teaching and learning materials based on New York Times content. They offer lessons across subject levels and have activities for all student levels.

Students can respond to Opinion questions, take News Quizzes, learn the Word of the Day, try Test Yourself questions, enter contests, do crosswords, learn about what happened on this day in history, answer 6 Q’s About the News, read Poetry Pairings and pairings.

Today they feature a “What’s Going On in This Picture?” exercise that would make an excellent writing prompt. Then tune back in tomorrow where The Learning Network reveals more about the image and it’s origins.

The New York Times also offers Educator subscription rates. Select Digital or Print editions. See what pricing looks like in your area.
