Teaching is not for the weak.
Research tells us time and time again how tired and stressed out educators are. According to a survey from the American Federation of Teachers, more than 60 percent of teachers report their work to be always or often stressful.
Yet, teaching is also one of the most powerful and impactful careers you can have. The average educator affects more than 3,000 students during their career, and for many kids, a teacher is their biggest advocate. Without a doubt—we need good teachers.
Let’s vow to do better.
It’s easy to talk about all the problems with our education system, but there needs to be action as well. Concordia University has put together the Resilient Educator Toolkit to give teachers, administrators, and schools powerful resources for changing school culture and improving teaching conditions. Here’s a peek at what you’ll find:
- Self-Care for Teachers of Traumatized Students
- Saying No Can Make You a Better Teacher
- Better Work-Life Balance Tips for Teachers
