The first National Woman’s History Day was held on February 28, 1909, in New York City.

The day was held to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the 15,000 women who marched in the garment workers’ strikes. Celebrate Women’s History Month with this video that showcases Bessie Coleman, Mae Jemison, and Gwendolyn Brooks!
