Teachers are masters at locating the best resources and teaching tools for their students. We were so inspired by our Teach Green Microgrant applicants that we want to continue the conversation with everyone in the community. Add to the post by suggesting your favorite green teaching materials.

The resources on Discovery Education are fantastic, the video segments can be organized according to theme, and length can be appropriate for the time allowed!
I also have researched Environmental Education standards--Kansas has the best resource so far (other states are working on theirs now) I pulled those up early in our Science focus, as they tie all the main concepts of our local, region and national environment and the age appropriate sequence.
Finally--contact your local nature centers, refuges, and biologists--they came to speak at our Science Club meetings, and shared a wealth of resources. In addition, counties have individuals on staff who monitor environmental concerns and love to share what they know. Our county has a gentleman whom we call the "Soil Guy" and he came in to show students how to test soil samples, and purify water... it was great!
National Geographic, Ranger Rick, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife (the Outdoor Magazine of Texas) http://tpwmagazine.com/ are all great for the students to look at and use as resources.
We submitted art work to the International Fund for Animal Welfare (http://ifaw.org/) for their calendar--the art focused on endangered creatures from around the globe, and was a great launch for the dialogue we continue to have about our responsibilities as citizens to take care of our planet for all creatures.
We tapped into our local recycling center as well--promoting them helped promote our focus. They were thrilled to share materials as well, which we used for art projects this school year.
As the art teacher on campus, I encourage all students to think about medium in a different way: how can we use a material to create a work of art, and how can we create a work of art using a particular material... thinking about both questions within the context of our objectives.

thanks!

I'll admit it, the internet is the easiest source for my information.
