NCCE's Annual Digital Film Festival: "DigiTalkies"


Plan, shoot, edit, enhance, and submit a short video! Your entry puts you in the running for one of the great prizes being awarded in this contest, and the winning entries in each age group will be shown at the NCCE Seattle Conference, February 26-29, 2008. K-12 students or faculty must create all entries. You may enter as many times as you like. Prizes will be awarded to the adult supervisor of the winner(s). Each student will receive a certificate of participation.

Deadline to Submit: Friday, January 25, 2008 by 3:00 PM PST.

NCCE is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting effective uses of technology in education.  In addition to hosting the largest educational technology conference in the Pacific Northwest, NCCE provides its members with resources and professional development opportunities throughout the year. 


Vision


Technology plays a fundamental role in lifelong learning and is used in all aspects of education such as teaching, learning, assessment, evaluation, record keeping, personal productivity, and communication systems. Hence, an ongoing need exists to provide engaging, effective, and diverse professional development opportunities for educators extending across geography and methodology. Educators seek opportunities to employ technologies and their application in education.

Coffee Chat with NCCE President Vince…

NCCE President Vince Ruggiano, has been a Technology Specialist for the Beaverton School District in Beaverton, Oregon for 7 years and an ELL Program Facilitator for 3 years.
As a technology specialist in the IT Dept., he coordinated with teachers, administrators, technology facilitators, and building technology teams to successfully use technology with
their curriculum. Vince is currently a Program Facilitator for the English Language Learners Dept. in Beaverton Schools. He specializes in using technology to meet District ELL goals.
Vince has been a classroom teacher in K12 classrooms and is an Adjunct Professor at Lewis and Clark College and Portland State University where he teaches technology classes for
teachers and administrators.

1. What is your favorite tech gadget at the moment? Canon XLC
2. Did you go anywhere this summer? I was a principal at Five Oaks summer school for most of the summer, but stayed at various Oregon beaches on the weekends.
3. What is one thing you would like to do in the next 5 years? Compose more music.
4. Any surprises for the 2008 Seattle conference? The Sun will be in the Seventh House of Uranus!
5. How many languages can you speak/read? English and Spanish
6. Do you play any musical instruments? Piano, guitar, Saxophone and harmonica

    Sandy Fivecoat is owner and CEO of WeAreTeachers.com .   She also has a successful consulting business where she coaches Top 100 Companies
executives on educational issues throughout the country.  In addition to starting a new company, she was a senior VP of Sales at Lightspan, Inc., a
provider of curriculum-based educational software, Internet products and services.  She also has ten years of experience as an executive at Apple
Computer which she specialized in software development and sales management.  Ms. Fivecoat began her career in public education, where she was
a teacher, administrator, university researcher and the first Director of Educational Technology for the State of Texas.

Born in Dallas, Texas and Raised in Cockrell Hill, Texas where my Father was the Mayor and it was still a small country town with maybe 1,000 residents.

Education: Graduated Cum Laude with both a Mathematics and a Computer Science Ed degree from The University of Texas at Austin.  Also has a Masters degree.
