Let's Share Knowledge Together!

Well, hello stranger. Hopefully you won't stay a stranger for long. As a newcomer into the social network scene, I'm eager to make your acquaintance and to find out if the hype measures up to the reality. WeAreTeachers main premise is to help even the playing field for teachers and anyone with knowledge to pass on so that people can prosper by sharing. A lofty goal to be sure. It's really up to each of us to make it happen.

Julia Kennedy Jayes  What a great blog and resource! I particularly love the TED video of Temple Grandin discussing how teachers can make the most of every type of mind.

To Be a Dad
No one ever told me how to do it. And even if someone had, I'd still have to experience things first hand to know any better. I entered fatherhood, as I venture most of us do, without fully realizing what I was getting into or having a plan to deal with life's greatest responsibility--bringing a human being into the world and helping this little person to thrive in our chaotic world.

The Social Network Phenom
Or, what Friendster begat. But Friendster is so late 90s. (It is likely that most people who are facile with MySpace, FaceBook, LinkedIn, and YouTube never even heard of Friendster.) Regardless, the human need to connect, share, and collaborate is well-known and documented. From its inception, the Web promised to level the playing field and democratize communications. But in its first commercial phases, the Web became a mouthpiece for large corporations attempting to push their presence and their wares. The interactive, community-building aspects were pushed aside by the prospect of e-commerce on a mass scale. Brick and mortar entities simply sought to upload their strategies and presence on the web with little or no regard to the burgeoning possibilities of the two-way communication that is intrinsic to this medium.
