Our nation faces serious questions in regards to our educational system. The purpose of these documents is to provide you with perspective on the key issues to consider—as a policy maker, as state leader, as a district or school administrator—to ensure that you are planning for the future and building strategies that will solidify the success of our students, not only in school and work, but in life.

The Partnership for 21st Century Skills developed the Milestones for Improving Learning and Education (MILE) Guide for 21st Century Skills to assist educators and administrators in measuring the progress of their schools in defining, teaching and assessing 21st Century Skills. Up for discussion are the materials contained in the most recent iteration of the MILE Guide, published in Spring 2009.

If we as a nation are to prepare our students for success in their world tomorrow, we must take action today. We must strive to understand what tomorrow's needs will be, as well as develop an educational system that fulfills those needs.
