Description
Getting my Master's Degree & living in MN for ten years, this was NEVER an issue. I now teach in KY, where it is a problem. At the beginning of the school year, I teach a "We're All ONE" lesson. This is a diversity lesson, meant to break down the prejudices & racial tension that harbors among my students. The lesson takes the air out of stereotypes and prejudice thinking.
Objective
The student will identify at least 3 beliefs that they have about all races (caucasian, black, native american, and asian).
The student will attempt to correctly identify people who are associated with each race, that matches the sterotypes of the pictures presented.
Materials
ActiveBoard, pictures, definitions of stereotypes, racism, and prejudice, markers, & chart paper.
