Description

During our Title I funded program called Kindergarten Camp, the students will use the LeapFrog Tag program in teacher-led small group sessions. The students will get individual attention on use of the materials while gaining the knowledge of Concepts About Print, Phonemic Awareness, Read Alouds, and the joy of quality literature. These materials will also be used during the regualar school year to enhance and reteach concepts taught through our reading series in small groups and centers.

Objective

Phonemica Awareness, Phonics, Blending, Comprehension, Concepts about Print (left to right, top of bottom, spacing, punctuation, initial sounds, the difference between letters and words, matching sounds to printed leters). Students will be engaged in small group activities and center activities to increase their reading experiences.

Materials

We will use the LeapFrog Tab materials, our reading series materials, independent learning centers, technology (such as classroom computers and the classroom promethean board, and Kidwriting.

Other Information

We have a dedicated staff that work collaboratively. Our staff has a strong understanding of the RTI model. We strive to dedicate our expertise and focus on early intervention in order to give all students, regardless of their socio-economic background, the opportunity to engage in reading activities that will help them become life-long learners and readers.
