Students will participate in a game of Animal Sign BINGO to practice their receptive skills.
Prior to the Lesson
1. Cut out the bingo calling cards. Consider printing them on card stock and laminating them for durability.
2. Print out enough BINGO cards for each student in the class to have at least one card. If needed, adapt the BINGO cards to match your exact vocabulary taught during the lesson.
3. Find or create small pieces of paper to use as the space covers during the BINGO game.
4. Students should have been exposed to and practiced using animal signs. This is a fun way to practice their receptive skills related to animal signs.
During the Lesson
1. Open class with a quick review of each animal sign. Say or project via a simple PPT the name of each animal. Ask students to produce the sign for each (this is a good practice of their expressive skills).
2. Pass out a BINGO card to each student and proceed playing a "regular" game of BINGO. Consider having prizes for the winners.
3. Continue playing various kinds of BINGO (four corners, only diagonal, blackout, etc.) for the remainder of the class.
To wrap up this activity, have each member of the class tell their favorite animal sign and why. They must sign the name of the animal and as much of the explanation as possible.
