2010 Special Education Winners Visit Morgan's Wonderland

PCI Education, WeAreTeachers and Morgan's Wonderland want to say thank you!

altThank You for participating in the first "Send a Student to Morgan's Wonderland" contest. No matter how you participated, you made a difference in literally hundred of lives of students with special needs across the U.S. Three families will be going to Morgan's Wonderland, but many students will benefit for years to come from the six schools that received large special education curriculums as a result of your nominations and votes!

Certainly the most valuable gift of all were the number of people (56,000!) who took the time to learn and understand more about our students and children with special needs.

Casey Rohrer from Hermosa Beach was the first of three winners to visit Morgan's Wonderland. On April 9, 2011, eight-year-old, Casey was the guest of honor to help Morgan's Wonderland kick off its first birthday celebration with founder and philanthropist Gordon Hartman. Casey and his brother Luke cut the opening ribbon, starting the day’s events. After the birthday celebration, Casey enjoyed two days at the 25-acre park with his family. According to his mom, Casey's favorite attractions included the carousel and amphitheater.

Casey wrote this summary about his memorable experience at Morgan's Wonderland: "My family went to Morgan's Wonderland and it was so cool and awesome! Morgan's Wonderland had a birthday party and a parade. I went on a choo choo at Morgan’s Wonderland and a wheelchair merry go round. Morgan’s Wonderland had an outdoor amphitheater and I put on a play and danced too."

We will be excited to update you again when Brendan Baker, our Grand Prize Winner from Abilene, Texas visits Morgan's Wonderland this summer and again when Katherine Hobson, First runner up, from Florida visits in October.

So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making Casey’s visit the first of many smile-filled days for students with special needs all over the U.S.
