SECTION 1: Contest Overview

Stand Tall: “One Brave Thing” Pinterest Contest

Pin your class’s examples of bravery and inspiration for a chance to win a class trip to Washington DC and a private screening of the movie “Lincoln.”

No Purchase Necessary. The contest is open to anyone who is currently employed either full-time or part-time in the field of education in grades 9 through 12 at an accredited educational institution. Disney Educational Productions is the Sponsor and WeAreTeachers is the official administrator of this contest. Employees of WeAreTeachers or the Sponsor and their affiliated companies, subsidiaries, distributors, sales representatives, agents, advertising and promotional agencies and the immediate families and household members (parent, spouse, child or sibling) of each are not eligible to participate. Limit one entry per class. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

SECTION 2:

Application Rules & Agreements: 

  1. The contest begins on November 5, 2012 at 12:00am, Central Standard Time.
  2. All contest entries must be submitted using the online form by November 29, 2012 at 11:59pm, Central Standard Time.
  3. Entrants must follow the online entry instructions and provide complete, accurate, and truthful information in all of the required information fields on the entry form. Entries generated by script, macro, robotic, programming, or any other automated means are prohibited and will be disqualified.
  4. The contest is open to all accredited schools in the United States that serve grades 9 through 12.
  5. Submitted Pinterest Boards must correlate with a complete entry form in order to be eligible to win.
  6. Submitted Pinterest Boards must use the title “Stand Tall: One Brave Thing Pinterest Contest” and the hashtag #OneBraveThing in order to be considered a complete entry, eligible for selection as a finalist.
  7. Each class may only submit one completed form. If you teach multiple classes or sections, each class is allowed to create its own entry. The first form received for each class will be the submission reviewed for posting and voting.

SECTION 3:

Merit Finalist Selection Rules & Agreements:

  1. All applications will be submitted to an educator merit panel for review. The merit panel will be selected by WeAreTeachers. The educator merit panel review will be conducted from November 30 – December 4, 2012.
  2. From the total entry pool of qualifying applications, the merit panel of educators will nominate a group of 10 finalists from the entries (depending on number). The merit panel will use the following criteria to judge entries:
    1. Originality and Creativity
    2. Alignment with Contest Question
  3. The 10 finalists will be entered for consideration for the “Grand Prize”. Voting will determine the Grand Prize winner. The Winner will be announced on December 17, 2012.

Voting Rules & Agreements:

  1. Voting starts 12/06/2012 at 7am, Central Standard Time.
  2. Voting ends 12/13/2012 at 11:59pm, Central Standard Time.
  3. Voting is limited to one vote per WeAreTeachers registered user.
  4. Valid votes are defined as coming from a real individual person with a current and valid email address.
  5. WeAreTeachers reserves the right to audit every vote cast to insure compliance with these rules.
  6. WeAreTeachers reserves the right to not post a contest submission for voting on the site. Applicants will be notified for the reason their submission is not posted for voting by the online community.
  7. All submissions will be posted for voting at the same time. Applicants may promote submitted Pinterest Board to peers for voting at www.weareteachers.com.
  8. Voting by members and visitors will be done in the WeAreTeachers community.

SECTION 4:

Winner Selection Rules & Agreements

  1. Contest winner will be announced on the WeAreTeachers website on or about December 17, 2012. WeAreTeachers will also announce the contest winner through an email to its member community.
  2. On or about December 17, 2012 the grand prize winner will be notified by email that their accredited educational institution has been selected as the winner. WeAreTeachers notifies the winner using the email address provided by the applicant.
  3. All published prizes from the Sponsor are fulfilled by the Sponsor and are the sole responsibility of the Sponsor.
  4. Unclaimed prizes after 60 days are not awarded. If prizes go unclaimed it will be up to the Sponsor at that time to determine if the contest runner-up will be given the Grand Prize.

The single “Grand Prize” winning school will be awarded:

  • A class trip to Washington D.C. for up to 30 students and 2 chaperones (including U.S. travel, scheduling, and accommodations); and a private screening of the DreamWorks film, “Lincoln”, at their school.
  1. Any depiction of prize is for illustrative purposes only. Product prizes are not redeemable for cash or transferable. No substitution is allowed except, at Sponsor's sole discretion, a prize of equal or greater value may be substituted.
  2. Odds of winning will depend upon the number of eligible entries received.

SECTION 5:

General Program & Rules & Terms

  1. The contest is solely operated by WeAreTeachers.
  2. WeAreTeachers reserves the right to extend the submission deadline and/or voting period.
  3.  Contest entrants are solely responsible for their own application and the consequences of posting or publishing. You affirm, represent, and/or warrant that: you own or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to use and authorize us to use all patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights and to any and all your submissions to enable inclusion and use of the submissions in the manner contemplated by WeAreTeachers.
  4. WeAreTeachers, Sponsor, and their respective affiliates, shall not be liable in any way if any personal information about a child is disclosed, directly or indirectly, through an application or a video submitted by a teacher. If a minor is represented in the submission that will be posted on the WeAreTeachers or Sponsor website, the applicant is acknowledging that they have signed legal guardian consent to allow their child to be included in the content of the submission. The applicant is agreeing that he/she can provide signed consent from the legal guardians of the students in the submission at any time it may be requested by WeAreTeachers or Sponsor. Neither WeAreTeachers nor Sponsor are responsible for obtaining parental permissions.
  5. By submitting your application, you are allowing WeAreTeachers and the Sponsor to publish on our Websites and the Sponsor's website, without limitation, for promotional and redistribution reasons part or all of the submission (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels.
  6. You agree that you will not submit inappropriate content or material that is copyrighted, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to third party proprietary rights, including privacy and publicity rights, unless you are the owner of such rights or have permission from their rightful owner to post the material and to grant us the entire license rights contested herein.   Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the contest or who are in violation of these Rules, as determined by WeAreTeachers or the Sponsor, will be disqualified and the associated entries will be void.  ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE OR TAMPER WITH ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE CONTENT OR LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF LAW, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR AND WeAreTeachers RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES) AND OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INCLUDING POTENTIAL CRIMINAL PENALTY.
  7. Information provided by you under this program is subject to WeAreTeacher's privacy policy located at http://www.weareteachers.com/privacy-policy
  8. WeAreTeachers is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by Internet users or by the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of the entries. Sponsor is not responsible for computer system, phone line, hardware, software, or Contest malfunctions or other errors, failures or delays in computer transmissions or network connections that are human or technical in nature.
  9. WeAreTeachers and Sponsor retain the discretion to make all decisions regarding the interpretation and application of these rules. All decisions of Sponsor are final and discretionary. The laws of the State of Connecticut shall govern this Contest, without regard to Connecticut's choice of law rules. The courts of Connecticut shall be the exclusive forum for any dispute relating to these Rules and/or this Contest. All participants and winners agree, by their participation in the Contest, to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the courts of Connecticut. Prizes may be considered income, and any and all taxes associated with prizes are the responsibility of winner.
  10. By entering the Contest, each entrant agrees to waive any and all claims against, and release and hold harmless Sponsor, WeAreTeachers and each of their respective owners, directors, partners, officers, employees, agents and representatives (the “Released Parties”), from any liabilities, losses, damages, costs or expenses, including without limitation for personal injury and property damage, that may be incurred, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from the participation in the contest or from the receipt or use of any prize, any portion of any prize, or any activity related to the receipt or use of any prize.
  11. To the extent the Released Parties incur any liability related to this contest, any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to entrant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses, and under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than actual out-of-pocket expenses.  Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above may not apply to you.
