Skin Cancer Foundation

Since its founding in 1979, The Skin Cancer Foundation has set the standard for educating the public and the medical profession about skin cancer, its prevention by means of sun protection and the need for early detection and prompt, effective treatment. It is the only international organization devoted solely to combating the world’s most common cancer, now occurring at epidemic levels.

What does it take to keep kids sun safe?

A group of invested teachers and some creative kids, that’s what!

We asked middle and high school students to learn the six steps to preventing skin cancer and then to share them with their peers in the form of a promotional poster or video. More than 200 kids shared their creative ideas, and after much consideration, we chose five lucky winners. Grand Prize students won 16GB iPad mini with Retina display (Wi-Fi) and an Apple iPad Mini Smart Case and the teachers of record for each of the four winning students received a 16 GB iPad Air (Wi-Fi).

Be on the lookout on The Skin Cancer Foundation and WeAreTeachers Facebook pages to see the winning posters and videos, as we feature them to help spread the word about sun safety. Visit SkinCancer.org to learn more about skin cancer.
